With reference to Your Excellency's

Note of the 7th of March with regard to the

difficulties placed in the way of the

importation of French spirituous liquors into

Hong Kong, I have the honour to inform you

that a report on the subject has now been

received from the Governor of that Colony.

the Superintendent of

Imports and Exports of the government of

Hong Kong has not in practice insisted on the

certificate of the "Contributions Indirectes"

Department in cases where other certificates

produced have appeared satisfactory to him and

that these have, since the regulations came into

force, included certificates signed by Mayors

of localities, by local French customs

authorities, and in one case, by the President

of a Chamber of Commerce.
